Statement in Response to Guidance Published by the Norwegian and Dutch Consumer Authorities on Materials Data in Consumer Communications

Note: This article predates our launch as Worldly.

Today, our strategic partner the Sustainable Apparel Coalition (SAC) responded to the Norwegian Consumer Authority (NCA) and Dutch Consumer Authority’s (ACM) guidelines for the clothing sector regarding the use of materials data for marketing communications to consumers. Read the SAC’s full statement here.

The response follows a recent pause of the consumer labelling approach of the SAC’s transparency program pilot to allow for further industry collaboration, and ongoing discussions with policy makers and regulators, about how brands can ensure environmental claims about materials data in their marketing to consumers is credible, accurate and substantiated.

Access to Higg Index tools, including the Higg MSI, is unaffected by this discussion.
