  • Worldly has been named as a Representative Vendor in the 2026 Gartner® Market Guide for Sustainable Procurement Applications, Miguel Cossio, Marta Muñoz, Kevin Lawrence, 20 April 2026.
  • Worldly’s platform capabilities and recent product investments directly address each of the four priorities listed in the report, with real customer results to back them up

What analysts are watching — and why it matters now

We feel the 2026 Gartner® Market Guide for Sustainable Procurement Applications, Miguel Cossio, Marta Muñoz, Kevin Lawrence, 20 April 2026 is worth reading carefully, not just as an industry snapshot but as a strategic compass for procurement and sustainability leaders trying to make the right technology bets in a difficult environment.

“The sustainable procurement application market continues to mature, but faces notable headwinds. In the United States, shifting policy priorities have reduced emphasis on corporate sustainability, while in Europe, the Omnibus has reduced the number of organizations required to disclose sustainability data under the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD). Changes to the EU Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD) have scaled back multitier supply chain requirements, and several EU member states have been slow to transpose directives into national law.

These dynamics, compounded by broader cost pressures from tariffs and tightening budgets, have led some buying organizations to delay or cancel investments in these types of solutions. Yet sustainability in procurement remains strategically important, with CPOs ranking it as one of the top five themes they expect to become urgent during the next six to 18 months”

(Gartner® Market Guide for Sustainable Procurement Applications, Miguel Cossio, Marta Muñoz, Kevin Lawrence, 20 April 2026).

That tension between pressure to reduce costs and pressure to manage risk is exactly the environment where having the right platform matters most. It’s not enough for an application to check boxes; it has to deliver operational value that justifies continued investment.

With that context in mind, Worldly is pleased to share that we have been named as a Representative Vendor in this year’s Gartner Market Guide for Sustainable Procurement Applications. Rather than simply noting the inclusion, we want to use it as an opportunity to address the four trends Gartner identifies as shaping the market, and share where and how Worldly is investing to address each of them.

1. Reducing supplier burden is non-negotiable

Sustainable sourcing applications may have historically been focused on the benefits brands and retailers stand to gain. But industry research shows this is no longer enough to make the case for a software investment.

Gartner identifies that “Vendors are making significant investments to reduce friction for suppliers responding to data requests. Rather than presenting lengthy mquestionnaires, platforms are enabling suppliers to upload documents and using AI to extract and prepopulate responses.” (Gartner® Market Guide for Sustainable Procurement Applications, Miguel Cossio, Marta Muñoz, Kevin Lawrence, 20 April 2026).

Responsible sourcing and procurement vendors are also responding to market demands through AI-assisted document processing, cross-customer data portability, and supplier-facing platforms that let suppliers collect their own data once and share it with multiple customers.

Worldly’s approach to this challenge is structural, not just technological. The primary data solutions we offer provide industry-standardized tools built on the premise that a supplier should be able to complete one assessment and share it with any brand customer that accepts it — eliminating duplication and the accompanying assessment fatigue at the source.

Environmental assessments

The Higg Facility Environmental Module (Higg FEM), stewarded and governed by Cascale and implemented globally through the Worldly sustainability and supply chain intelligence platform, has over 45,000 factories across 97 countries already collecting and analyzing primary supply chain data. For most brands and retailers, a large portion of their supply chain are already submitting assessments which means they can start gaining supply chain intelligence from day one.

Social and labor assessment

The Higg Facility Social & Labor Module, stewarded and governed by the global non-profit alliance Cascale and built on the Social & Labor Convergence Program’s (SLCP) Converged Assessment Framework (CAF), has united more than 100 major brands and over 15,000 facilities around a single shared data collection standard to evaluate social impacts in the global supply chain.

Over the past year, supply chain partners exchanged more than 100,000 verified assessments on Worldly — a direct measure of how much redundant work the platform is absorbing.

Supplier engagement

On top of that foundation, the Worldly Collaboration Suite gives brands automated, targeted supplier outreach, campaign management, multilingual communication, and unified progress tracking across their full supplier base. Brands using it alongside Worldly’s evidence-based best practices regularly achieve assessment completion rates above 90 percent. For context, that means sustainability teams aren’t just collecting more data — they’re collecting it from enough of their supply chain to back credible findings and power business decisions across sourcing, finance, legal, compliance, and other teams.

AI-driven resources

The Worldly Assistant, an AI-powered feature launched in 2025, takes friction reduction a step further. Embedded directly inside the assessment workflow and trained on Cascale’s Higg Index guidance, ZDHC documentation, and Worldly’s full knowledge base, it provides suppliers with real-time contextual answers to complex assessment questions — reducing errors, reducing back-and-forth with brand teams, and improving data quality at the source without requiring additional support resources on either side.

"Instead of duplicating efforts for every brand they work with, manufacturers can enter their data on Worldly once and seamlessly share it with multiple customers. This unified approach provides both brands and manufacturers with robust support at a fraction of the cost of managing multiple fragmented tools and metrics."

2. Brands and regulators need product-level impact data

Buying organizations increasingly recognize that enterprise or site-level metrics can obscure progress — the actual impact of supplier engagement shows up at the product level, not the corporate level. This becomes increasingly important as frameworks including the EU’s CSDDD along with upcoming requirements like the French Eco-Score labeling and the EU’s Digital Product Passport, demand product-specific data.

Worldly’s Product Impact Calculator was built for exactly this need. It enables brands and retailers to measure Scope 3 emissions at the product level by connecting product specifications, purchase order data, and primary facility performance from environmental assessments. It replaces spend-based estimates and inconsistent lifecycle assessment methodologies with a repeatable, industry-specific, primary-data-driven approach. The calculator now supports more than 260 consumer goods categories, covering apparel, footwear, furniture, home goods, and sporting goods, among others.

What makes this credible rather than just convenient is the data underneath it. Because Worldly already holds years of verified primary facility data from tens of thousands of global facilities, the Product Impact Calculator doesn’t require businesses to start understanding GHG impacts from scratch. It activates data facilities have already collected, applies it at the product level, and generates outputs that can support both internal decision-making and emerging regulatory requirements.

3. Vendors claim to expand their scope but not all stand up to scrutiny

“Many vendors are expanding beyond traditional ESG into adjacent domains such as broader risk management, product compliance and carbon accounting. Some expansions reflect genuinely new capabilities, while others are primarily a repositioning exercise.” (Gartner® Market Guide for Sustainable Procurement Applications, Miguel Cossio, Marta Muñoz, Kevin Lawrence, 20 April 2026).

Worldly’s scope expansion reflects real capability development that has taken place over the past two years, grounded in direct customer demand and built through dedicated product investment and acquisition, for example:

Worldly Axion brings together facility-level performance data and regional risk intelligence to give brands a forward-looking view of supply chain exposure. Rather than simply showing what has happened at a facility, Worldly Axion layers in predictive intelligence — grid decarbonization rates, regional carbon pricing, climate risk signals including drought, flood, and heat stress projections based on scientific datasets — to help sustainability and sourcing teams identify where risks are concentrating and where interventions will have the greatest operational and financial ROI. For sustainability teams that need to build business cases for executive and board investment, Worldly Axion translates environmental risk into financial and operational language that leadership can act on.

The BHive®, the industry’s most widely adopted platform for chemical management reporting, now extends Worldly’s data coverage into a domain that has long been siloed from environmental performance data. A typical facility might track energy and emissions through the Higg FEM while managing chemical reporting through a completely separate system, leaving brands unable to connect chemical choices to verified environmental outcomes like wastewater quality or carbon reduction. Integrating The BHive® into the Worldly platform closes that gap. Brands gain access to verified chemical compliance data — including ZDHC conformance — alongside their existing environmental and social insights, in one place, for the first time.

4. Solutions must support small teams, reducing internal workload as well as suppliers

“Sustainable procurement programs are typically managed by very small teams, often just two or three people even within large organizations. Vendors are responding by building capabilities that make these teams significantly more productive.” (Gartner® Market Guide for Sustainable Procurement Applications, Miguel Cossio, Marta Muñoz, Kevin Lawrence, 20 April 2026).

Responsible procurement vendors are responding by building capabilities that help small teams accomplish what they previously were unable to. This includes AI-powered data querying, conditional workflow logic, configurable automation, and analytics that surface insights that matter without manual analysis.

In these areas, Worldly stands out as a solution that not only reduces supplier burden (a prerequisite for any platform) but helps internal teams maximize their efficiency and results as well.

The Worldly Insights Hub transforms accumulated assessment data into actionable analytics that give brands and retailers filterable views of supply chain performance by region, category, facility type, and KPI, alongside peer benchmarking and year-over-year tracking. For a sustainability manager responsible for hundreds of facilities, this means the difference between manually sorting through years of raw data and identifying a risk pattern in minutes.

The Worldly Collaboration Suite brings supplier engagement best practices to brands and retailers at scale. Rather than manually managing supplier outreach, tracking who has responded, and following up individually, teams can configure automated campaigns, segment suppliers by risk profile or data status, and let the platform manage the engagement cycle. This is what allows a small team to maintain consistent engagement with a supply base of hundreds of facilities without proportionally expanding headcount.

Worldly Axion adds a third layer of productivity by synthesizing facility performance data with external climate and risk intelligence. This type of analysis would be prohibitively time-consuming to conduct manually across a large supplier base but Worldly Axion quickly makes supply chain intelligence actionable. Teams can identify which facilities face the highest climate exposure, model where decarbonization investments will yield the best returns, and connect that intelligence to sourcing conversations — all without requiring dedicated data science resources.

Taken together, these capabilities reflect a core design principle in how Worldly thinks about its platform. It’s not just about collecting more data: It’s making sure that the data businesses do collect is accurate, actionable, and doesn’t require a large team to achieve ROI.

The bigger picture in responsible procurement

Despite the uncertain environment, vendors in the sustainable procurement market continue to invest in capabilities that reflect where buyer and supplier needs are heading. According to the Gartner® Market Guide for Sustainable Procurement Applications, vendors are focusing on:

  • Reducing supplier burden”
  • “Product-level data granularity”
  • “Vendor scope expansion and repositioning”
  • Empowering lean buyer teams”

(Gartner® Market Guide for Sustainable Procurement Applications, Miguel Cossio, Marta Muñoz, Kevin Lawrence, 20 April 2026).

These aren’t abstract capabilities. They’re the difference between a responsible procurement program that holds up under scrutiny and one that doesn’t — and between a sustainability team that can demonstrate business value and one that can’t.

If you’re evaluating how to strengthen your supplier data program, prepare for product-level regulatory requirements, or get more from a small team, schedule a demo to see how Worldly supports supplier compliance management and helps you understand your impact at scale.
